A family’s anticipated gross income determines not only eligibility for assistance, but also determines the rent a family will pay and the subsidy required. The anticipated income, is the amount of income the family will receive during the next twelve (12) months and is used to determine the family’s rent.

Cathedral Square contains 99 units, 23 efficiencies and 73 one-bedroom. Annually the building applies to HUD to extend their age waiver from the age requirement of 62 to 55.   Waivers and their applicable dates are hanging in the office. Under the Section 202 Loan program, 10 units are set aside for mobility impaired residents.

Rents at Cathedral Square are established by HUD. If accepted, a resident is eligible for a subsided rental based upon the Project based Section 8 rent formula:

The rent a family will pay is the highest of the following amounts:
• 30% of the family’s monthly adjusted income
• 10% of the family’s monthly income
OR
• $25.00 Minimum Rent
